What Are Seasonal Ailments?

Seasonal ailments are illnesses or health conditions that tend to occur during specific times of the year due to changes in weather, temperature, or environmental factors. Some of the most common include:

  • Colds and Flu: Viral infections that peak during colder months.
  • Hay Fever and Allergies: Triggered by pollen in spring and summer.
  • Dry Skin and Eczema: Often worsened by cold, dry air in winter.
  • Heat Exhaustion: More likely during hot summer days.
How to Stay Prepared
  1. Boost Your Immunity:
    • Eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables.
    • Stay active and get adequate sleep.
    • Consider a flu vaccine if you’re eligible.
  2. Manage Allergies:
    • Keep windows closed during high pollen seasons.
    • Use antihistamines or nasal sprays as needed.
    • Check pollen counts daily to plan outdoor activities.
  3. Protect Against Cold Weather Ailments:
    • Dress in layers to stay warm.
    • Use a humidifier to prevent dry skin and respiratory irritation.
    • Practice good hygiene, such as frequent handwashing, to avoid spreading germs.
  4. Stay Cool in Summer:
    • Stay hydrated and avoid direct sunlight during peak hours.
    • Wear light, loose-fitting clothing and apply sunscreen.
    • Seek shade or air-conditioned spaces to avoid heat-related illnesses.
